Both presidential candidates and their running mates should provide
us with copies of their birth certificates. No one will steal
their
identities because they are too well known. I read recently that
I
will have to provide a birth certificate to renew my driver's license
even though I have had a driver's license for 46 years.
If we average folks have to prove our citizenship we should
require those who want to lead us to do the same thing. If the U.S.
government believes anybody might lie about citizenship,
then we should recognize that presidential candidates might lie about
their citizenship. Presidential candidates lie about other
matters, why do we think they wouldn't lie about their citizenship.
By
birth certificate, I mean an actual photocopy of the document produced
when they were born complete with the signature of the doctor, midwife,
or whoever.
Hillary Clinton is still officially a candidate. Perhaps she
could start the process by releasing her birth certificate.
